Castle Keep® blue holly is a semi-dwarf type with a naturally rounded habit meaning it fits well in small gardens, borders, or even containers. It's actually much smaller than traditional blue hollies. The leaves are soft to the touch, unlike some hollies that have prickly or hard foliage. The glossy, leathery evergreen leaves provide good structure and interest year-round. Because it's a female variety, it will produce bright red berries, but only if a male holly is planted nearby and approximately 10-50 feet away. The closer the better, especially in sheltered gardens or if you want a heavy berry set. These berries add seasonal interest and attract wildlife!
